A cool room in the upper unit of a very nice modern duplex townhouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn will be available for rent starting January 1st. The place consists of a kitchen/dining room, a living room, two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, and five bedrooms. There are two floors, with the kitchen, one bedroom, and a full bathroom on the first floor; and the other four bedrooms and bathrooms and the living room on the second floor. Your room would be on the second floor.
The kitchen has a breakfast bar and is equipped with an electric stove/oven, a microwave, a toaster, various cookware, a dishwashing machine, and of course a refrigerator/freezer. There is a washing machine and a drying machine in-unit. The living room has a large television, a couch and loveseat, and a skylight. Each room has its own remote-controlled AC/heating unit. There is a door to an outdoor balcony in two of the rooms (including yours), and there is a ladder on the balcony that goes to the roof. There are bike racks in the foyer area. In front of the house there is a small gated courtyard which is shared with the lower unit. The room features a full-sized mattress and a large closet.
The neighborhood is very cool, with many coffee shops, stores, several food markets, bars, restaurants, nightlife spots, and lots of street art around. We are about a 7-minute walk from both the Kosciuszko Street J and Central Ave M subway stations, and about a 13-minute walk from the DeKalb Ave L station. Maria Hernandez Park is about an 11-minute walk away. There is a CitiBike dock at the end of our block, and another about 2 blocks away. There is usually sufficient street parking in the area, with street sweeping rules in effect on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8am to 9:30am, and a 9am to 10:30am area just a block away.
There are usually five housemates. Currently, we have two females and three males. We would prefer a female roommate to maintain the current balance. We are looking for someone who is independent but friendly; introvert-leaning ambiverts would probably fit well here. That said, most of us are not at the house very much, so it's much more like living with one or two roommates most of the time.
No conservatives. Non-cigarette smokers preferred (If you are, you must smoke outside. Cannabis is okay inside). Rent is $1024 a month. Utilities generally range from about $70 to $140 a month, depending on the season. Internet is about $23 a month. Everything is usually paid via Venmo or Zelle. We're looking for a minimum 6-month stay. Security deposit is equal to the rent of the room. First month's rent and security deposit (so $2048) to move in. January 1st is the move-in date, absolutely no exceptions.
