In-Camera Plane Metering: The Sinar Six
is designed to measure light exactly where the film will be exposed, eliminating the need for calculations related to bellows factors, light fall-off, and other variables common in large format photography.
Pinpoint (Spot) Measurement: It uses a small, adjustable probe (6mm diameter) to take selective exposure measurements at specific points on the ground glass, allowing the photographer to precisely control the exposure of different tones (e.g., highlights, shadows, mid-tones) in the final image.
Integration with Sinar Cameras: The meter is an accessory that fits into a special Sinar light-meter cassette which slides into the camera back like a film holder.
Exposure Calculation Aids: The meter's scale and interchangeable dials (N, S, X, P) are designed to simplify exposure calculations, providing direct shutter speed and aperture combinations once a reading is taken.
Versatility: It can be used for both continuous light and, with the appropriate P scale, flash exposure measurements, automatically accounting for exposure factors in both scenarios.
