These props (two drums, a paper mache mask and a hand mirror) were owned by one of the cast members of the original 1958 Broadway musical FLOWER DRUM SONG; she had a major role in the production playing Helen Chao. It was the eighth musical by the team of Rodgers and Hammerstein based on the 1957 novel, The Flower Drum Song, by Chinese-American author C. Y. Lee. It premiered on Broadway in 1958.
They were given to us as a gift when they were downsizing, as we were friends when the she and her husband lived in Rockland County, NY. The nationally renowned singer continued to perform and later teach in NYC. We are now downsizing ourselves and would like them to go to someone who will appreciate and cherish them. Do not know if they were used in that specific production, but they are vintage, so very well could have been.
