Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Haris Bhatti and I am a research analyst focusing on health and marijuana policy. I
attained a B.S. in Human Biology with honors from Cornell University in May 2010. I have
completed courses in Policy Analysis and Management (e.g. Economics of Public Health, US
Health Care Systems, Multiple Regressions Analysis, Finance, etc.). In regards to IT skills and
programs, I am proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. I am interested in counter
terrorism, budgetary, and financial policies as well as Artificial Intelligence and stem cell
research.
I currently am on Aamir Sultan’s candidate committee who is running for NYS Assembly
District 10, assisting community engagement, and in the planning development stage of
fundraising. For over 8 years I have developed community outreach, organizing and planning to
motivate communities to understand and vote for impactful candidates.
In fact, in 2016, I became an independent candidate for Representative of the House in
Congressional District 6, NY in the General Election. Within 2 months, I collected more than
3,500 signatures in a petition from registered voters residing in the district and met more than
8,000 constituents. I raised more than $10,000 for the campaign and researched and wrote
campaign literature located here. https://cornellsun.com/2017/01/25/guestroom-student-debt-
crisis-and-policy-solutions/
In 2016 and 2017, I worked with members of the New York State Assembly and Senate to enact
legislation (assembly Bill A3422/ senate Bill S1421) improving the Election Law. In 2011, I
collaborated with Pakistani legislators to enact academic policy to incorporate the USA Medical
College Admission Test (MCAT) into admission decisions in Pakistan. In 2016, I invested my
time attending municipal hearings regarding policy, preliminary budget, and executive budget at
City Hall in Manhattan. The management of budget and financial policies are important aspects
of elected officials’ work, which I hope to learn in this job opportunity.
Moreover, I am a recipient of E. Virgil Conway Dr. Howard a Stark Pre-Med Scholar Award,
which was determined by the 100 Year Association of New York and handed to me by Mayor
Mr. Bloomberg at One Police Plaza.
Overall, I believe my desire for this impactful role would make me an excellent candidate and I
hope for an opportunity for an interview for the position.
Thank you,
Mr. Haris Bhatti
