I bought it in a "non-working" condition and had someone change the footswitch to a smaller one (soldered in with cables not directly to the board as this is their weak spot) but it's still not working.

I guess that someone fried the transistors with the opposite polarity power supply.
It should be an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing with a soldering iron.
