This is an exceptionally rare 1957 Guild F-20 VR. These are regular F-20s made for the Vinny Roberts music stores- there is a Vinny Roberts logo under the Guild logo on the headstock.
Short scale, solid spruce top with maple back and sides- they only made these for three years (they switched to mahogany for the b&s by 1959)- small body (about the size of Martin 0-18). Player's condition, but without any breaks, cracks, or major issues. Neck straight, good action. See photos.
Scarce New York City manufacturer label from the original NYC factory before the Hoboken, NJ move, one of the first 3500 or so guitars ever built by Guild. Excellent condition, no cracks, never needed a neck reset and has great action with amazing tone- it's also extremely loud for the size.
The binding has been replaced, as with all maple F-20s I've seen, there was an issue with the material they used, and the binding shrunk and fell off. This guitar also has a rosewood bridge plate that was added at some point in the past, reason unknown.
Short scale (24 5/8") with 1.59" nut, c-shaped, 1st Fret: 22 mm (.86 inches), 10th fret: 24.5 mm (.96 inches).
Comes with a gig bag. Pick up only, cash only. If this post is up, the guitar is available, no need to ask. Please let me know when you are free to see the guitar.
