Selling a super rare Canon surround speaker system consisting of
2x S-35,
2x SV-15 and
1x SB-100 subwoofer
Everything is in working condition- there are signs of use that I have pictured but overall the set looks great considering it’s over 30 years old. Price is firm $400 for the set. I can deliver if you’re nearby
This is the updated version of their S-30 and S-50 model. The S-50 received excellent reviews when Canon first launched them but one of the few faults was the treble breaking up at higher volume/frequencies. This problem was due to the single driver configuration that was resolved with the S-35 after adding a dedicated tweeter. The result is an extremely smooth frequency response aiming for a british sound signature- that is they are non-fatiguing with the midrange being very sweet and full. The bass is impressive for their size and the subwoofer blends in seamlessly for a truly immersive experience. If you decide to do a surround setup the SV-15 speakers are voiced to work specifically with the S-35 so it’s a perfect match. The SV-15’s even come with the wall mounts
The SB-A100 subwoofer may not look like much but it’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. This is much heavier than you’d expect- maybe 30-40 pounds. It’s dual ported and uses a hefty 100 watt class AB amplifier to get a visceral impact i’ve only gotten from high end musical subwoofer brands like Rel, Sunfire and Rythmik. When paired with the S-35 speakers it’s truly a unique experience. I have owned other omni-directional speakers by Mirage like the OS3 FS, Nanosats, and OMD-5’s and I have to say the Canon speakers are by far my favorite. I am not in any rush to sell, I have other speakers I’d rather sell before these so the price is firm. I bought them with the intention of having a surround system in the attic but the space is too enclosed to really let the S-35’s breathe. The sides of the speakers need to be a couple feet away from any walls otherwise the soundstage and frequency response starts to get messy.
