EXPERIMENTAL ANIMATION 101: SPRING 2017 -AGES 15 TO 18
Do you have a passion for animation, or are you curious about how films such as Boxtrolls and Coraline are made? This introductory course is designed to teach students the fundamentals of experimental stop motion animation. Students will experiment with Claymation, collage/cut paper, painting and direct drawing. Over the course of 10 sessions, students will work in small groups to create a short stop motion film in their desired medium.
Students will observe and analyze storytelling by viewing different films. Utilize creative and structural thinking skills to create a project proposal. Students will learn linear and non-linear editing using Adobe Premiere Pro CC, as well as the frame-by-frame animation software Dragonframe. Students will also work with equipment such as tripods, digital cameras and iMac computers. The course emphasizes team building, project management and exploration through art.
Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays starting March 6th through April 5th 2017 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm
