favorite this post Parents of HS seniors: I edit, revise Common App/supplemental essays. (Flatiron) hide this posting unhide

Parents of incoming high school seniors who will be applying to top colleges and universities in the fall: the best schools require both the Common App essay and several "supplemental" essays (of up to 500-750 words). These essays are your child's best chance to distinguish himself or herself among thousands of well-qualified applicants. Since the Common Application essay prompts for the 2019-2020 admissions cycle are unchanged from the previous year, rising seniors need not wait to consider which Common App essay they prefer to write.

I help your son or daughter make each application essay or personal statement the best it can be. To that end, I work closely with your child: proofreading, editing and revising each draft of every essay. I'm a former lawyer who, like many disenchanted attorneys, now apply my skill set to another line of work. (I graduated from an elite small liberal arts college, regularly ranked as one of the nation's finest by U.S. News and World Report, and a top ten law school.) Parents of my students tell me that no teacher has subjected their child's written work to such thorough, detailed critiques -- ever.

My students prepare the initial drafts of their essays; I provide extensive comments and suggested revisions. Each essay goes through multiple drafts. This way, your child's unique voice and perspective come through loud and clear. Admissions officers read thousands of applications each year; after a while, most essays look the same. My clients' essays stand out from the rest: well-conceived, well-written and lively.

If you believe your rising high school senior can benefit from my help, I invite you to contact me by e-mail at gramproofing@gmail.com. We'll discuss your child's needs, the specific colleges to which he or she intends to apply, and the number of essays required for all applications.

My services don't come cheaply, but if I take on your child as a client, I will provide a level of service, at a level of detail, that no mass production "essay mill" can match. I limit the number of clients I accept for college essays, so that I can give each one individual attention.

These days, virtually all applicants to the best colleges have some kind of help with their Common App and supplemental essays. With acceptance rates to these schools -- like those in the Ivy League -- often lower than ten percent (10%), even the strongest candidates have little margin for error. If your son or daughter is a highly motivated student who wants to improve his or her application essays dramatically, I can help.

Again: to discuss my services in greater detail, you may contact me at gramproofing@gmail.com.
