College papers, essays, personal statements: writing without AI. (Flatiron)

offered virtually
College, graduate and law students: need help with papers and essays? Can't figure out how to end a paper -- or how to start it? Too busy to proofread for spelling, punctuation and grammar? Do you know the difference between

-- "It's" and "its"?
-- "There," "their" and "they're"?
-- "Your" and "you're"?

Which one of these pairs is the right word for what you have in mind?

-- "Rein" or "reign"?
-- "Discreet" or "discrete"?
-- "Lay" or "lie"?
-- "Who's" or "whose"?

Why is it "a united front," but "an underground railroad"?

You get the idea.

Or are your personal statements and application essays for graduate or professional school (law, medical, business) due soon? Is it hard for you to write about yourself, your goals, your accomplishments and? Want an experienced writer to help you craft a persuasive essay so admissions committees can see who you really are?

Even better, would you like your personal statement to look like an actual human being wrote it? Today, admissions offices at every level are inundated with application essays that, to be frank, look exactly like what they are: cold, lifeless recitations of hoary cliches, interspersed with a smattering of your resume's greatest hits. Unless you have absolutely perfect academics -- or a family looking to put its name on a new campus building at your first choice school -- an AI-written essay won't get you where you want to go. Sometimes, there's no artificial substitute for human intelligence.

If "sometimes" for you is the current admissions cycle, contact Gram at gramproofing@gmail.com. I was a bankruptcy lawyer for two decades, but no longer practice law. I've been helping students with personal statements and academic writing since 2015.

I proofread and edit your written work, emphasizing organization, sentence structure, grammar and word choice. I spot, and fix, writing problems common to most students, but especially to ESL/foreign nationals. After I edit your draft, it will look like the work of a native English speaker and writer.

More importantly, it won't look as if it had been generated by some A.I. program: my written work is the product of a real, live human being -- yours will be, too. (And since I do all the work myself -- no assistants, no subcontractors, no horde of unemployed Ph.D.'s chained up in my basement -- you can be sure that your essay will get my full attention.)

But I do much more than correct errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar. Using my legal background, I also read your draft closely for factual or logical inconsistencies, weaknesses in your analysis and superfluous sentences. I fix awkward transitions, so paragraphs follow naturally from one another, and your final draft reads smoothly.

If this sounds like what you've been looking for, please email me at gramproofing@gmail.com with a brief description of your project, including the date on which you need a finished product (VERY IMPORTANT). I'll get back to you promptly. Thanks, Gram.
