Students: Do you need help with college papers or essays?
ESL students: Did you get back a paper you wrote with a subtle suggestion -- or an explicit instruction -- that you rewrite it "in standard English"?
Can you use assistance with personal statements for graduate or professional school applications due soon?
If English is a second language, do you want your papers or grad school application essays to read as if it were your first?
Contact Gram at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm a graduate of an elite liberal arts college and a top 10 law school. (I was a corporate bankruptcy lawyer and commercial litigator for nearly two decades, but am no longer a practicing attorney.)
I will proofread and edit your written work, paying attention to organization, sentence structure, grammar and word choices. I'm sensitive to, and can address, the problems of students for whom English is not their native tongue. I'll turn your first draft into a polished, finished product, ready to be submitted to your professor.
I'm equally comfortable with all kinds of papers: shorter "think pieces"; essays requiring close textual analysis (particularly in philosophy and related subjects); and longer papers, of 10-15 pages, including those requiring outside research.
I do a lot more than just check for errors in grammar, spelling or punctuation: using my legal background, I read your paper to look for logical inconsistencies, weaknesses in your argument and sentences that -- whether due to imprecise language or holes in logic -- don't hold up to careful review. I make sure that your paragraphs follow naturally from one another, and that the final version of your paper or essay reads smoothly.
Price depends on the amount of necessary editing and proofreading, and the time I spend, but starts at $20 per double-spaced page for papers; major rewrites, complete overhauls for ESL students and rush jobs cost more.
(Please note: the foregoing price per page DOES NOT apply to personal statements or application essays. Instead, personal statements for grad school/professional school applications are priced according to the amount of work and time required to make your prose shine. If you want me to write a personal statement for you for graduate or professional school [law/medical/M.B.A.] from scratch -- as opposed to working from a draft you have already prepared -- the average essay will cost $600 or so, depending on its length and complexity.)
Please e-mail (at email@example.com) with your name, contact info and a short description of the project (subject, number of pages, due date) and I'll get back to you promptly. Thanks! Gram at firstname.lastname@example.org.
