Students: Do you need help with college papers or essays?
What about personal statements for graduate or professional school applications?
ESL students: did you get a paper back with a failing grade or an "incomplete"? Did your professor tell you to rewrite it "in standard English"?
Is English a second language, but you want your papers or essays to read as if it were your first?
Contact Gram at email@example.com. I graduated from an elite liberal arts college and a top 10 law school. (I was a corporate bankruptcy lawyer and commercial litigator for nearly two decades, but no longer practice law.)
I proofread and edit your written work, paying attention to organization, sentence structure, grammar and word choices. I fix the writing problems most common among ESL students. I'll turn your rough draft into a polished, finished product, ready to be submitted to your professor.
I'm equally comfortable with all sorts of papers: (i) shorter "think" pieces, where you're being asked for your impressions of, or response to, a particular story, essay or article; (ii) those requiring close textual analysis and high-level critical thinking (particularly in history, politics, philosophy and law); and (iii) longer papers, usually 10-15 pages, requiring outside research.
Moreover, I don't just check for errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation. (Of course, I make sure your paper, essay or other document is free of such errors. Do you know the difference between "it's" and "its"? Can you distinguish correctly among "there," "their" and "they're"? Don't worry: I do, I can, and I'll fix any mistakes in your draft.) Using my legal background, I read your entire paper closely for logical inconsistencies, weaknesses in your argument and sentences that -- whether due to deficiencies in language or holes in logic -- don't make sense. I make sure your paragraphs follow naturally from one another, and that your paper will read smoothly.
Price for editing and proofreading varies with the time required, but starts at $20 per double-spaced page for papers; major rewrites, complete overhauls for ESL students and rush jobs cost more.
(Please note: that price per page DOES NOT apply to graduate or professional school personal statements. Such documents are priced by the amount of work and time required to make your prose shine. If you want me to write your personal statement from scratch -- as opposed to revising a draft you have prepared -- the average essay will cost about $750, depending on its length and complexity.)
Please e-mail (at firstname.lastname@example.org) with your name, contact info and a short description of the project (subject, number of pages, due date) and I'll get back to you promptly. Thanks! Gram at email@example.com.
