Novo is seeking a UX Researcher to work closely with our product teams to identify research topics, translate business goals into research questions, and develop research plans. This person will have exceptional behavioral data-collection and analysis skills (e.g., designing, conducting, and analyzing all kinds of user data). Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the relationship between business, technology, and user experience as well as the role of user research.

What you'll do:

  • Determine the type of study most appropriate to target the desired information.
  • Distill project goals and research questions into well thought-out research plans.
  • Recruit and schedule participant studies.
  • Some or all of the following: lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, international research, and survey design.
  • Create and manage research roadmap and calendar.
  • Design and conduct research that reliably informs product roadmap prioritization and design decision-making, employing best practice methods such as ethnographic research, user interviews, needs and satisfaction surveys, usability studies, etc.
  • Perform thorough data analyses.
  • Identify user pain points and suggest measurable action to address them while also achieving business objectives.
  • Present findings in both written and verbal formats.
  • Provide concrete success metrics that quantify the impact of research and testing.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and applicable external studies, and present what is learned to the design team.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering, and marketing.

What we're looking for:

  • At least 1 year (but ideally 2-3+) of proven success leading user research projects with demonstrated impact.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (study plans, reports, etc.).
  • Experience operating as an individual contributor in a user research role.
  • Ideally, a B.S. in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience applying a balanced mix of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Experience leveraging web analytics tools to gain key insights.
  • Retail and/or e-commerce research experience is desirable.
  • Research experience with mobile and tablet devices a plus.
  • Research experience in the service industry a plus.
  • Direct experience with research and testing on a variety of devices (desktop, mobile, tablet, etc.).
  • UX research experience in non-US markets a plus.
