Novo is seeking a UX Researcher to work closely with our product teams to identify research topics, translate business goals into research questions, and develop research plans. This person will have exceptional behavioral data-collection and analysis skills (e.g., designing, conducting, and analyzing all kinds of user data). Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the relationship between business, technology, and user experience as well as the role of user research.
What you'll do:
Determine the type of study most appropriate to target the desired information.
Distill project goals and research questions into well thought-out research plans.
Recruit and schedule participant studies.
Some or all of the following: lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, international research, and survey design.
Create and manage research roadmap and calendar.
Design and conduct research that reliably informs product roadmap prioritization and design decision-making, employing best practice methods such as ethnographic research, user interviews, needs and satisfaction surveys, usability studies, etc.
Perform thorough data analyses.
Identify user pain points and suggest measurable action to address them while also achieving business objectives.
Present findings in both written and verbal formats.
Provide concrete success metrics that quantify the impact of research and testing.
Stay abreast of industry trends and applicable external studies, and present what is learned to the design team.
Work cross-functionally with design, product management, content strategy, engineering, and marketing.
What we're looking for:
At least 1 year (but ideally 2-3+) of proven success leading user research projects with demonstrated impact.
A strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (study plans, reports, etc.).
Experience operating as an individual contributor in a user research role.
Ideally, a B.S. in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field.
Experience applying a balanced mix of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
Experience leveraging web analytics tools to gain key insights.
Retail and/or e-commerce research experience is desirable.
Research experience with mobile and tablet devices a plus.
Research experience in the service industry a plus.
Direct experience with research and testing on a variety of devices (desktop, mobile, tablet, etc.).
