Researchers at The Rockefeller University are seeking participants who previously received allogenic bone marrow transplants as a comparison group for a study of participants with Fanconi Anemia. Fanconi Anemia is a genetic disease caused by the body’s failure to repair damaged DNA (genetic material). Patients with Fanconi Anemia are at greater risk of developing certain oral cancers. Researchers will test whether methods such as collecting brushings from the mouth using a toothbrush-like brush can be used for early detection of oral cancer in Fanconi Anemia.
You may be eligible if:
You are over 18 years old
You had an allogenic bone marrow transplant
You do not have Fanconi Anemia
You do not have a severe bleeding disorder
You have not had a recent blood transfusion
Participation includes:
1 Screening Phone Call
1 Screening visit at the RU Outpatient Clinic for informed consent, vital signs
check, brushing of the inner mouth to collect cells, blood draw
Compensation provided.
