Paid Volunteer wanted for 9/11 Museum Workshop, 5-Star Rated non-profit Museum in New York's Meat-Packing District.
2 days per week / 4-hour shifts (12pm-4pm). Two-Three weeks training @ $15/hr. and to $20/hr upon completion of training. You will arrive at Museum, set it up, meet and greet guests, give them headphones, play a 10-min. video for them and then show them some artifacts with scripted narration. After this you will turn them over to the BOSE audio tour. Candidate should like kids as we are a kid-friendly Museum and separate from the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
You should have experience memorizing and presenting scripted material in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. A very small Museum and Rated 5-stars world wide. Audio guide is in Spanish, Italian, French and English. Work shirt provided which you will take home and wash as needed.
9/11 Museum Workshop focuses heavily on the 9-month dig for the missing after 9/11/01 and less on the actual day of 9/11.
The "RECOVERY PERIOD" is what the Museum Workshop focuses on. We also allow guests to pick up and hold rare WTC artifacts, the only Museum to do so. One of only TWO Museums for September 11 in NYC.
Tour guide experience is a plus -- or acting experience. Because of the training needed we are looking for someone who will stay at least one year.
Please email us a resume, a photo (optional) and a paragraph as to why you would want to be a docent at a 9/11 Museum.
Training will start immediately.
Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
