Beautiful reel including that distinctive, cool porting on the back side. In addition, according to many Bauer fans, the black finish is the most desirable.
Based on my actual fishing experiences with both the older MXP and SST, it appears that the SST is sort of an improved version of the MXP while still maintaining the aesthetic themes.

* New large arbor spool rotates on sealed, precision stainless steel ball bearings with a silk-smooth star drag adjustment.
* Fully sealed, incredibly smooth carbon fiber drag system delivers exceptional performance at all settings and requires no maintenance.
In my personal comparison to the MXP drag, the SST drag definitely feels more refined.
