I have played both upright and electric bass for about 10 years and the didgeridoo for about 4-5. I have been in cover bands and have written and released original music. Currently looking for a drummer and other musicians to jam, work on original sounds and later do live shows and eventually release recordings. I'm a guy in his early 40's who's open to playing with any genre and demographic.
I have been playing Didgeridoo more frequently than Bass lately and my ideal setup would be to find a drummer/dance class for weekly jam sessions where we can write original music and develop different sets (10 min , 30 min, 1 hour sets) of composed lounge music that we could play live at venues. I'm open to doing some covers as well.
I am not a professional musician, I mostly play as a hobby so you do not need to be a pro. No sheet reading/sight reading or knowledge of standards/scales necessary - willing to jam with people of various skill levels. Having a positive outlook and being on the same page about building something together is more important to me than proficiency. That being said, I would prefer working with people who are goal oriented and able to finalize songs vs exclusively jamming/freestyling. I have my own transportation and can meet up regularly in the NYC area on weekends and most weekday evenings with some flexibility for gigs. I'm open to starting from scratch or joining a group working on existing material.
