Six string contrabass commissioned in 2016 and built by luthier Jeroen Hilhorst for "a guitar trio or quartet that wanted the loudest possible contrabass". This guitar utilizes a unique 'tilted neck angle' to add protection and energy transfer to the 'double top' construction (see neck photo #5). The scale length is 900mm (35.4") with a 'double top' of spruce and cedar, African blackwood and ebony sides, back, and neck. Mr. Hilhorst has since retired and will never build another contrabass guitar, making this a very unique and rare build. Unfortunately, it looks like Mr Hilhorst's website has been discontinued.

The Contrabass is tuned one octave below guitar. It's currently strung with Hannabach 841MT Doublebass Guitar Strings, 90cm 6-string set. (Extra sets included)

The instrument is impeccably built by a master craftsman and is in excellent condition. The tone is deep and clear with a warm midrange and the projection is amazing. There is one scuff on the headstock from when the guitar slid inside the case during shipment. The french polish is excellent—the photos are showing dust.

Included is a custom case built by the British case maker Kingham (kingham.merion.co.uk). One of the latches is a little loose but it can be fixed with a couple of new rivets. It still latches/works properly so I haven't fixed it yet.
