This fully handmade advanced violin comes from the workshop of Henri Delille IV, the highly regarded maker of fine stringed instruments based in Belgium. Henri Delille instruments are made using traditional methods with uncompromising quality and are a step up from other violins found in this price range.
This contemporary (2006) copy of Guarneri Del Gesu 1742 is made from thoroughly seasoned and carefully selected European tone wood: tight-grained quarter sawn spruce for the top and deeply flamed Bosnian maple for the back, ribs, and neck. The violin impresses with its precise workmanship; it fashions an elegantly carved scroll and fine cornerwork. The violin is hand varnished in the Italian tradition. It is tastefully “antiqued” to replicated the look of old master violins.
The sound is warm, mature, large, and radiant, with a good balance across the entire range. The violin would be suitable for the advanced player or for the professional playing in the orchestra.
The instrument is in near-mint condition. It has seen minimal, if any, use and is defect-free – there are no cracks, repairs, seam-separations, blemishes, or noticeable scratches.
The strings are Evah Pirazzi with gold-plated E string, a premium set by Pirastro, Austria that retails for $120.
This is the opportunity to own this high quality advanced violin, in like-new condition, at a deep discount to the store price. For reference, based on my review, U.S. dealers typically offer Delille instruments in the $3,500-$4,000 price range.
HENRI DELILLE VIOLINS
"Each Henri Delille branded instrument is treated with the greatest care and carries the heritage of many centuries of European violin building tradition. We follow every instrument throughout its journey from a magnificent tree to an exquisite fine stringed instrument.
Carefully selected seasoned tone wood is used, with the wood that has dried naturally for at least 15 years. This gives Henri Delille's instruments their typical rich and warm sound.
After this natural drying process, the instruments are then handcrafted by the company's master violin builders with great attention for detail. Our original varnish recipe and application technique have been carefully guarded since the very beginning and give the instruments their signature look and feel.
With over 20 years of experience, up till this day, Henri Delille Violins still continues its unrelenting quest to innovate and improve its instruments offering you only the very best instruments."
