I’m reluctantly thinning the herd and this one is on the chopping block. It is an *insanely* great looking, sounding, and playing guitar, and these aren't available a whole lot, and admittedly are not cheap... but this might be the best guitar on the planet.
This is a 2019 Gibson Memphis ES-335 Dot with P-90s in Vintage Burst, built in the Memphis factory before it shut down. If you know these guitars, you know they were some of the best modern 335s Gibson was putting out. An incredibly good instrument with a fantastic, wide-open tone. Honestly the problem is… it’s almost too nice. I bought it thinking it would be my main semi-hollow for gigs, but the reality is I tend to reach for my slightly more beat-up guitars when I’m playing out.
This one is just too clean and too pretty, and I find myself babying it instead of actually taking it to the bar gigs where it belongs. Which is a shame, because tone-wise it’s ridiculous.
The P-90 / ES-335 combination is really special. You get the resonance and warmth of the semi-hollow body, but with the bite and articulation of P-90s instead of humbuckers. Clean it’s big, woody, and articulate. Push it a little and it has that gritty, vintage snarl that sits somewhere between a single-coil sparkle and a Les Paul punch. It’s a great sound for blues, rock, soul, indie, or anything where you want a 335 with a little more edge.
Condition is excellent, with only light swirling from careful playing. No breaks, repairs, or issues.
Includes the original Gibson hard case, COA, and all the case candy.
