1972 Marshall 50-watt lead amp, Model number 1987. Hand-wired, pre-PCB.
For those who might not already know:
These amps are commonly referred to as a “Plexi”. However Marshall’s use of Plexiglass (a.k.a. Perspex) on the front and rear panels was discontinued and replaced with metal panels at some point in 1969; the actual circuit remained unchanged at that time.
I have owned this amp for over 20 years, since Spring 2003. It has always been kept in my smoke-free studio with a Tuki cover.
The back panel 1/2-power switch was professionally installed (before I owned it) by well known NY City amp tech. Blackie Pagano. It is otherwise a factory-stock, un-modded circuit, original transformers, no issues.
$3950
Local pick up in NY City (Manhattan).
Anyone interested can stop by to check it out and play through it- at no obligation. Just let me know and we’ll work out a mutually convenient day and time.
