We were both heading east in the same direction from SoHo. You had an Aritzia shopping bag, blue jeans, and heeled boots that kept a persistent rhythm to our paces. I was wearing all black, walking my dog.
At some point, my dog started pulling behind me and I let you pass in order to check on her. We made eye contact and shared a passing smile. We traded places and I walked behind you until our routes diverged while crossing the street. You gave a last look back, when I clicked at my dog to hop onto the curb, but I didn’t return the glance while I made sure she avoided any puddles. What did I miss by focusing elsewhere?
If you want to tell me, let me know what color my dog’s jacket was?
