NYC Math, Science & Computer Science Tutor — High School, AP & College
I'm Daniel G. — I tutor Physics, Chemistry, Math/Calculus, Statistics, and Computer Science at the high school, AP, and college levels.
I also work professionally in cybersecurity and software engineering, so when I teach CS, it's grounded in real-world context and practical problem-solving.
How I Teach
Physics, chemistry, and calculus can feel overwhelming at first. The notation looks cryptic, the formulas seem disconnected from intuition, and homework problems rarely resemble what you saw in class. That's completely normal — learning these subjects really is like learning a new language.
My approach: I translate the symbols. I show you where formulas come from, why they work, and how to apply them confidently. Once the logic clicks, the "strangeness" fades fast.
You can't learn STEM by reading — you learn by doing.
I guide students through practice in a way that builds both skill and confidence. What felt impossible starts to feel natural — just like speaking becomes automatic once you've practiced enough.
Progress takes patience, but then it accelerates.
STEM learning is like walking through a dark tunnel: slow at first, but then suddenly the light breaks through. I help students stay focused, trust the process, and push through the early confusion until everything clicks.
Subjects I tutor:
Math:
Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trig, Pre-Calc, Calculus I, AP Calc AB/BC, Calc III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra (on the edge of my comfort zone, but I'd love the challenge!)
Physics:
Regents Physics, Honors Physics, College Phtysics 1(mechanics), 2(electricity), and 3(waves), AP Physics
Chemistry:
High School Chemistry (all levels), Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, College Chemistry I & II
Chemistry was my first love — I started as a Chem major at Brooklyn Tech and tutored it early on. Even though I shifted toward physics and CS in college, I kept taking Chemistry at Columbia (earned A's in both semesters). It's still one of the subjects I teach most confidently.
Computer Science (I have an M.S. in CS — definitely the subject I've studied most deeply)
Python, JavaScript, Java, C, C++, C# (a little), AP Computer Science A, Algorithms, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity Concepts
