*French Lessons with a Sorbonne Graduate* (Downtown)

offered in person
offered virtually
Bonjour / Hello!

My name is Anna. A native New Yorker, I fell in love with France from the first time I set foot in the country, and moved there initially when I was 19 years old. Since that move, I have been able to spend five years in the country, complete my studies in Philosophy, fully in French, at the Sorbonne University, and now, back in New York, to continue to find opportunities to deepen my knowledge of the language and the culture.

In France and the US, I have over five years experience teaching French to English speakers (as well as English to French speakers). My classes are always adapted to each student's needs and goals - in the past I have worked with children taking their first steps in a new language, young adults needing support for language classes at school, adults cramming for upcoming tourist or business trips, and in collaboration on a variety of more specific translation- and language-based projects.

In general, my approach is relaxed and supportive, and (according to past students, at least) fun! I use a combination of conversation and more systematic lessons in grammar and syntax to keep the lessons flexible and pertinent, providing the tools needed to communicate effectively and then finding real-life scenarios to put them into action. The lessons are best suited to beginner or beginner-intermediate students, but I am happy to work with more advanced students as well depending on your specific needs.

I am located in downtown Manhattan, but not averse to bopping around the city and happy to meet you where you are!

If you have any questions or want to schedule a trial lesson, please don't hesitate to get in touch :)

À bientôt!
