****Guitar Lessons - clear, simple, cost effective**** (Lower East Side)

Hi. I’m Kalin.

I've been teaching guitar for over 15 years. In that time my focus has always been on my students, and to improve the quality of the lessons I offer. I have a great deal of recording and performing experience as well, but over the years my primary interest became to offer the highest level of instruction possible to my students.

I like to keep the mood of the lesson light and fun – the experience as a whole is part of what keeps a student enthusiastic about learning.

A bit about my education and teaching style:

I graduated Oberlin Conservatory in 2006 with a degree in performance.
At Oberlin I taught secondary guitar lessons and tutored in music theory as well.

Lessons are always geared toward the goals and interests of the student.

I like to make sure my students are physically approaching the instrument in a way that will make them feel comfortable and free. If you have any wrist/hand problems, we’ll develop your technique and practice habits to work though this. If not, any technique work we do will help to prevent this.

I ensure all my students develop at least a basic understanding of music theory. If you are interested, we can certainly go deeper. If not, that’s okay and we can keep the focus on playing.

All contemporary styles including rock, blues, pop, folk, funk, jazz, r&b, experimental, and more.

If you're a singer/guitarist, I also offer vocal coaching - I studied voice with the same vocal coach who worked with Mick Jagger, Bono, and Christina Aguilera.

I’m glad to work with students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability.

I offer both in person and zoom lessons. All students are encouraged to consult with me between lessons with any questions that come up as you are practicing (this is usually via text and/or sending videos back and forth).

In your reply, please include a little bit about your music background and experience (even if it’s just a few words about what you listen to)

Looking forward to working with you!

Kalin
