This is a knife of historical interest my father brought back from WW2. Having survived the Battle of the Bulge he was later stationed in Germany. The knife was found in the ground hence the pitted metal from an earlier era. The identifying numbers and name are barely discernible on the ricasso at the crosspiece. From researching other photos of knives this is identical to those labeled Simpson & Co Shut, from WW1. (•I've attached three photos from other auction sites for comparison) Bayonet measures 15", wood handle with secure metal tacks. The handle is secure, wood has no splintering. The metal has no rust, age keeping the metal smooth. No scabbard. Listed online as a "Combat knife, Bayonet." A wonderful artifact to own. / Cash ONLY / Shipping extra.
