The African mask features a carved wooden design with alternating light and dark concentric circles to create the eyes and mouth. A vertical strip runs down the center, potentially representing the nose. The mask's perimeter is decorated with a series of carved notches. Bantu masks, traditionally used in various ceremonies and rituals, often represent ancestral spirits or deities. Acquired at a flea market in Paris 1960s.
