Overview:
We’re seeking a skilled and creative Chef to oversee a small-plate and event-driven food program. The role involves maintaining a consistent daily menu while adapting to private event needs — from seated dinners to passed canapés — with a focus on thoughtful execution, organization, and seasonal inspiration.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a small-bites menu that complements the cocktail program
Plan and execute event-specific menus, including plated dinners, family-style service, and passed hors d’oeuvres
Manage prep, execution, and presentation to ensure quality and timing
Handle ordering, inventory, and vendor coordination
Maintain compliance with all NYC DOH health, safety, and sanitation standards
Collaborate with management and events teams on service logistics for private functions
Conduct tastings and assist with staff menu training as needed
Continuously evolve offerings with seasonal ingredients and creative concepts
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a small-plate or event-focused kitchen
Strong creative sensibility and attention to detail
Excellent time management and organization
High standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
Comfortable balancing regular service with custom event menus
Current NYC Food Protection Certificate
Schedule
Full-time Tues-Sat; includes prep and service hours with flexibility for private events
