Chef Eddie Huang is seeking a passionate Sous for his new restaurant located at the iconic Lower East Side venue, The Flower Shop.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and executing all menu items.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure timely and consistent food quality.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep work, cooking, and plating.
• Maintain proper inventory levels and assist with ordering and cost control.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP or equivalent).
• Train, mentor, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen staff.
• Assist in developing new menu items and seasonal specials.
• Monitor portion control and minimize food waste.
• Step in to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure excellent guest experiences.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
• Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of inventory management and cost control.
• Current food handler’s or food safety certification.
