Culinary Experience/Pastry Instructor | Kitsby | Now Hiring (TriBeCa)

Title: Cooking/Baking Instructor for Recreational Classes

Kitsby is a culinary experience cooking studio based in Long Island City, Queens. We will be opening up a studio in Soho, Manhattan. 

We are looking to expand our team with a baking/ cake decorating instructor who is super passionate and knowledgable about asian desserts and food. We host classes in Chinatown, Manhattan space 3-6 times a week. Our classes range from 2 hours to 3 hours long. Some of our most notable classes are: 

- Korean Lunchbox Cake Experience (Beginners cake decorating class)

- Bubble Tea Experience

- Mooncake Experience

- Pineapple Cake Experience 
- Toast Art Experience 

Candidates should have a passion for desserts, a positive attitude, good communications skills, exceptional work ethics and a desire to learn. As a small operation, there are increased opportunities for growth and further training. Compensation is by a per class basis.

Responsibilities:

• Preproduction of products that will be needed for classes
• Set up and Clean up before and after the classes ( this is expected from all instructors)
• Arrange and stock all stations for students before they arrive.
• Follow department procedures for receiving, storing, rotating, and stocking of products.
• Maintain a clean and well organized work area.
• Follow and comply with established procedures, health and sanitation, and best work practices.
• Clean up after class finishes, including mopping, washing dishes, and making sure that the space is set up for the next class. 

Required Skills:

• Two (2) year of pastry kitchen experience, or ability to:
• execute recipes and procedures as prescribed
• follow a production schedule and prioritize tasks
• visually examine products for quality and freshness
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, occasionally
• Good communication skills
• English fluency and additional languages preferred
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
