Inspire the Next Generation of Drone Pilots & Aviation Innovators!
Bricks 4 Kidz® is seeking an enthusiastic, engaging, and technology-minded Drone Instructor to teach high school students the exciting world of drone flight, coding, autonomous missions, and aviation technology.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys flying drones, teaching STEM, and inspiring students through hands-on, project-based learning.
Students won't simply learn how to fly drones, they'll discover how drones are programmed, how autonomous flight works, and how coding powers today's rapidly growing drone industry.
Using DroneBlocks, flight simulators, and coding activities, you'll guide students through programming autonomous drone missions while developing computational thinking, engineering, and problem-solving skills.
What You'll Teach
Students will learn how to:
- Safely operate drones
- Understand aviation safety and drone regulations
- Fly drones using manual flight controls
- Complete obstacle and navigation challenges
- Program autonomous drone flights
- Learn block-based coding using DroneBlocks
- Use drone flight simulators to build confidence before flying
- Solve real-world STEM challenges using drones
- Work collaboratively on team missions
- Present and demonstrate their completed projects
By the end of the program, students will understand how coding and engineering work together to power modern drone technology.
We also encourage instructors to bring their own creativity into the classroom.
You'll have the flexibility to:
- Create your own drone challenges
- Design new flight missions
- Introduce creative obstacle courses
- Develop team competitions
- Challenge advanced students with autonomous programming projects
- Share your own drone experiences and photography/videography techniques
If you've created your own DroneBlocks missions or autonomous flight projects, we'd love to see them! We're Looking For Someone Who
- Enjoys working with middle and high school students
- Has experience flying drones
- Can confidently teach beginner drone pilots
- Is excited about STEM education
- Makes learning fun and engaging
- Enjoys problem-solving and technology
- Is patient, energetic, and encouraging
- Creates a safe and positive classroom environment
- Enjoys hands-on, project-based learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience flying DJI, Ryze Tello, or similar educational drones
- Familiarity with DroneBlocks (preferred)
- Experience using drone flight simulators
- Knowledge of block-based coding
- Basic understanding of Python programming (preferred)
- Experience teaching youth
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Bonus Skills - Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- DroneBlocks
- Tello EDU
- DJI drones
- Python programming
- Scratch programming
- FAA Part 107 Certification (not required but highly desirable)
- Drone photography or videography
