Halloween is coming up and I need a creative mechanical engineer or a crafty maker/robotics hobbyist to help me pull off an award-winning costume idea.
The concept: I'm thinking of dressing up as Andy Byron (the disgraced astronomer CEO who got caught cheating at a Coldplay concert) while holding a dummy "mistress" in front of me. When I press a button, the dummy needs to mechanically slide or pivot away from me and bury her head in her hands to mimic the viral clip. At that moment, I'll drop into a kneel of shame.
What I need help with:
- Designing/building a lightweight, wearable rig that makes the dummy move convincingly when triggered.
- Using a simple, reliable push-button or remote activation, and
- Ideally collapsible/portable so I can walk around a parade without breaking it.
Need someone who:
- Is handy with mechanical engineering, robotics or animatronics.
- Has experience with Halloween/props/costume builds (or similar)
- Can work with a quick turnaround (we've got about a month now).
Compensation: Negotiable based on scope/complexity. Happy to cover materials + pay for your time.
If this sounds like a fun side project, shoot me a message with your experience and ideas. Let's make the funniest costume of the year happen!
(For context, this is my favorite day of the year and I always go all out for it. But I've never done anything with a rig before)
