Seeking a business partner and co-founder to kick-off a new project for a major online job portal for one of the world's fastest growing developing economies - Bangladesh.
With an average annual GDP growth of 7.5% and a population of 160 million, Bangladesh is hurtling towards a middle income economy. Employment rates are climbing rapidly and there are specific demands in the tech space that must be met to cater to new job seekers. Approximately 68% of the population is between the age of 18 and 35. I understand the market very well and know what is needed to get this going.
We are a U.S.-based startup and I am assembling the opening squad to build what I envision will be a new type of job portal (and content and ad-serving marketplace) to cover a significant portion of the job-seeking population. This project will become the major player in this space and will hold the potential to be launched in other markets across Asia.
I am seeking a tech co-founder, ideally a full stack developer, with the experience in building dynamic web portals and apps with the architecture to scale. The objective will be to hire a supporting team of developers in Bangladesh along with all of the other other functions. This is an equity only position to start and the co-founder may (or may not) need to based in Dhaka for months at a time.
A bit about me...
I am a lifelong NY'er having migrated here from Bangladesh. I am not a developer but have decent tech aptitude and have been a co-founder in another successful tech venture. I have 19 years of work experience across numerous industries.
This is not a paid position as I am looking for a co-founder/partner in this project. Equity stake will be determined by your capabilities, your contribution in time and the level of your leadership. My responsibilities include marketing/development strategy, bootstrapping and financing salaries for the initial hires in Dhaka. I can also offer you housing in Dhaka, Bangladesh should you need to stay there for weeks/months at a time. You'll find that it's quite a fun city to live in despite the lack of features you would expect in a developing country. I highly recommend that you do your own research on Youtube and elsewhere, searching for "life in Bangladesh" to get an honest idea of what living there would be like. You would be living in an apartment in an upmarket area of Dhaka, with house staff to cook and clean. You would only need to cover the utilities. More on this if/when we decide to meet.
Take a leap and come and build this project and be part of a solution that will impact MILLIONS of people.
This will be a life-altering experience for you and certainly the most rewarding.
I look forward to hearing from you and having a chat in more detail over coffee (if you live in the 5 boroughs). Otherwise we can have a phone chat.
