Itamar Burstein (Israeli, b.1974)
Polygon Vase, 2013
Made by Ligne Roset
Gloss white enameled molded porcelain, bearing the designer's signature.
20 x 8 x 12 in.
Provenance: Purchased via Ligne Roset
Condition: There is some wear on the underside.
Note: This all-white version appears to be out of production. However, the same form with black line on the edges is available, which is also a very nice work.
Artist's statement from his website:
"Almost all 'designed' vases from the last few decades are shown without flowers. More so although vases should perform as a container for flowers, they are usually empty. Thus the focus of interest is on the object when it is not in use. The idea behind POLYGON was to produce an enigmatic object that would not be clear at first sight, just when turning around it in one particular angle you will see the classic vase silhouette."
One photographs features a Kaj Blomqvist botanical vase surmounting the Polygon as an inelegant, if potentially amusing, commentary or augmentation of Itamar Burstein's intentions.
