I can't find out much about this pipe. It is made in Japan, but I don't know if the writing is Chinese or Japanese. I'm not sure how it came into mom's collection. It was used, or at least tested out, either 50 years ago by my dad when he was a tobacco smoker, or by me when I was a teenage pot smoker. Not sure what the stem is made of. Maybe fiberglass? It looks like something that might have been sold as a souvenir, but again, I haven't been able to find out anything about it. Nevertheless, it's pretty cool.
Mom collected antiques her entire life. She loved going to flea markets and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. Mom actually used to have an antique store on Gramercy Park. Now that she has passed I am selling off those pieces from the store that she brought home after high rents forced her out of business.
