Beautiful Japanese Traditional Wine Cups. Beautiful enamel metalware piece. Gorgeous floral peacock design. Looks brand new never used. Unfortunately I don't know much about its provenance, and could find no information about the Oriento brand. One person on a japanese pottery fan site told me that turn of the 20th century Japan went through an Egyptian phase, which would explain what appears to me to be an Islamic or Persian design. Another person suggested this was a mid century promotional gift set for drinking plum wine. In any case, it is in pristine condition and quite beautiful.
Mom collected antiques her entire life. She loved going to flea markets and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. Mom actually used to have an antique store on Gramercy Park. Now that she has passed I am selling off those pieces from the store that she brought home after high rents forced her out of business.
