Feeling lost? Empty? Feeling like something has been missing from your life? Could the answer be .... Hummels???!!! Yes, Hummels, that 1950s craze! The original Kitsch! The answer to your prayers??? Why, Hummels, of course!
What better way to fight off the seasonal blues than to treat yourself to a Hummel. For those of you who somehow missed the Hummel craze, "Hummel figurines are a series of porcelain collectibles inspired by the drawings of Maria Innocentia Hummel, a German artist and Franciscan nun. These figurines depict charming scenes of children engaged in various activities, often reflecting pastoral life. After World War II, American soldiers stationed in Germany popularized Hummels by sending them home as gifts, leading to a surge in their collectibility."
Here we have a charming figurine of two young girls, one carrying a pie while the other is licking her finger. Dee-lightful! This piece is in pretty good condition but it has two very minor flaws. The tip of one of the girl's bow has the tiniest of chips, as does the end of the other girl's braid. I'm not sure what the numbers underneath the base mean. Production numbers?

Mom collected antiques her entire life. She loved going to flea markets and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. Mom actually used to have an antique store on Gramercy Park. Now that she has passed I am selling off those pieces from the store that she brought home after high rents forced her out of business.
Click on the "More ads by this user" link on the right to see all the antiques and other items I am selling.
