Feeling lost? Empty? Feeling like something has been missing from your life? Could the answer be .... Hummels???!!! Yes, Hummels, that 1950s craze! Of course, Hummels! The original Kitsch! The answer to your prayers ... why, Hummels!
What better way to begin your exploration of the Hummel phenomenom than a pair of Hummel Bookends. "Hummel figurines are a series of porcelain collectibles inspired by the drawings of Maria Innocentia Hummel, a German artist and Franciscan nun. These figurines depict charming scenes of children engaged in various activities, often reflecting pastoral life. After World War II, American soldiers stationed in Germany popularized Hummels by sending them home as gifts, leading to a surge in their collectibility."
My mom left behind a nice collection. Here I am selling a well preserved set of Hummel bookends, but I am also listing 8 individual figurines. (Just search my listings.) I am willing to accept an offer for all 8 figurines plus the bookends. The bookends are a bit dirty, but not being an expert I am reluctant to clean them myself.
Mom collected antiques her entire life. She loved going to flea markets and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. Mom actually used to have an antique store on Gramercy Park. Now that she has passed I am selling off those pieces from the store that she brought home after high rents forced her out of business.
