As a security measure, in the era of today's scams, I've redacted the watch's serial number, so as to prevent tricksters from also listing this forty-year old collectible watch, which has always been in my sole possession.
In very good condition. Kept in the case. Not worn for over 35 years. Side photo taken to show the flat condition of the strap. A polishing of the case would remove any/all minor knicks. A new battery is required. A battery was placed in it approximately five years ago and the watch was functional.
The Swatch Sir Limelight (Model #GB106), released as part of the Christmas 1985 collection, was produced as part of Swatch’s early-era gentleman’s quartz lineup, representing the playful yet elegant design ethos of mid-1980s Swatch production.
The Swatch Sir Limelight (GB106) features a distinctive, faux gem-embellished dial that sets it apart from standard early Swatch models. At the 12 o’clock position, four round-cut imitation diamonds—clear rhinestones fashioned from faceted crystal glass—are set close together to create a cluster effect suggestive of brilliance and prominence. Moving clockwise, at five minutes past the hour (1 o’clock position) sit three faux rubies, each with a deep crimson hue and cabochon finish, chosen for their symbolic connection to vitality and festivity. At ten minutes past (2 o’clock position), two faux emeralds of bright verdant green are inset, their color contrasting strikingly against the black primary dial field. Finally, at fifteen minutes past (3 o’clock position) a single faux sapphire, medium cornflower blue in tone, completes the composition.
The watch features a 33 mm case made from polished black plastic, with a distinctive translucent lime-green dial whose reflective qualities give the design its “Limelight” moniker. Its hands are simple, in contrasting white, and the Swatch logo appears at the 12 o’clock position in the classic early Helvetica typeface. The case and strap integration is typical of early Swatch models: a thin, one-piece polyurethane band in matte black with a lightweight feel, contributing to the watch’s total weight of under 25 grams. The quartz movement is Swiss-made, battery-powered, and water-resistant up to 30 meters (100 feet).
