Paola Navone (Italian, b. 1950)
Vase (Moon Collection, 908), Designed 2018
Made by Lando S.r.l., Bassano del Grappa, Italy
Ceramic
Glazing: Platinum front/back - Mat white on the sides, interior, and bottom
11.02 × 3.94 × 13.78 in.
Mark: "Lando Made in Italy"
Original box
Condition: Small chip at the mouth.
Adapted for improvised mounting: A mid-size hole was drilled by hand into one side of the vase to enable experimenting with hanging it flush to the wall without a base, presenting an incongruent, surrealist-like floating effect. This alteration compromising the work and its future value. However, the effect might outweigh this form some collectors.
The Moon collection draws on Asian shadow theater and expresses its effects and related material forms in informal European modernism.
Exhibition: Works from the Moon Collection are included in the following exhibitions:
Best of Both Worlds: ITALY. Arte e Design In Italia 1915 – 2025, ADI Design Museum, Milano, Italy, April 4, 2025 through June 15, 2025.
Paola Navone's Nomadic Table curated by Cintya Concari and Roberto Marcatti, August 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025 in Maglie (LE) in the institutional spaces of the Civic Museum of Paleontology and Palethnology of the Salento city.
Note: The vase's narrow shape and reflective glaze work well in New York City spaces.
