A mask from Malekula Island, Vanuatu (New Hebrides), Melanesia. It is composed of vegetal fiber, bark, cobwebs & pigments. Height: 10 1/4 in.–26.0 cm. ~ Width: 6 1/2 in.–16.5 cm.

This is a mask representing an ancestor figure. Having a cobweb hair and beard surround with a short, cobweb cap. Overall, ocher pigment with black in various areas. White pigment in eyes, nostrils, mouth and a large x motif from above the brows to the lower nose areas. Has a wall mount base.
