This was the year when the New York Mets upset the highly favored Baltimore Orioles 4 games to 1 to win the World Series. This was truly an amazing year for the Mets as it even marked the first time the team had a winning record in the regular season!!!

In the World Series, the Mets were led by their great pitching staff featuring Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and Gary Gentry.
Gil Hodges was the manager, and Donn Clendendon was the World Series MVP.
