What adds value to this first American Edition/First Printing is the error that appears on page 100 (see photos): The Eleven OWLS" Error: there is a misprint that reads "eleven 'outstanding' O.W.L.s" instead of the correct "ten". This error was later corrected on in subsequent printings. This error can be a valuable identifying factor for collectors.
Additionally, this edition contain a Page Count Discrepancy: 652 pages instead of the correct 672 pages (see photos). This error occurred in early printings and was later corrected. This discrepancy can be a valuable identifying factor for collectors.
This book was exposed to excesive humidity at one point, so the bottoms of some of the pages, the hard covers, and the dust cover are slightly damaged (see photos). None of the print is obscured or unreadable. The discoloration due to the colors running from the dust cover ends at around page 21 and then from around page 607 to page 632. In between there is no visible discoloration
