The mattress plate in the crib has a broken screw hole. These screws are just there so you wouldn't pull the platform up. So not securing one of them doesn't change anything for the baby, because the mattress is on top of the platform. See attached photo.
It's a fantastic crib+mattress set. Often voted the best, and for good reasons.
