Not everyone may know about the Couroc Company, so a short bio is helpful. The Company was founded in 1948 in Monterey,
California by a man who had increased his scholastic knowledge of plastics while in the military, over several years after release, he developed a proprietary product that was impervious to boiling water and cigarette burns that was durable enough to form trays. In addition to their physical strength, his wife was an artist and setup teams of highly skilled artisans to produce original designs on a satiny black lacquer finish. The tray is light but very strong, it will easily carry whatever is placed on it. No two pieces are exactly alike. The business became a huge success in many countries. Because of age, they stopped production in the 19990s. Thay made pieces of different sizes which today sell from below $100 for the small pieces to several thousand dollars for the larger, unique pieces. It's reported that the average price is $365. The 18" by 12 1/2" tray was the most popular. Their website has many pictures and prices.
