Listing today a rare variant “A” of the Council of War by sculptor John Rogers. Patented in 1868 signed John Rogers New York. The group is painted in multi-colors and appears structurely sound. Of all the Councils of War produced in 3 different variants ….variant “A” would make up only 7-10% of the total produced making this piece highly desirable. Edwin Stanton’s hands wiping his glasses are positioned behind President Lincoln’s head making this variant “A” the 1st Council manufactured.
