This is my childhood Monopoly set. This game saw a lot of actioin back when I was a kid, so it is far from pristine. The Monopoly money is a bit dirty and the box is a bit beat up. Its 4 corners are all torn, and there is some 60 year old tape still striving to hold the box together. The box however still has its original $3.49 sticker.
According to my research, this set came with 8 tokens, 2 of which are lost to history. It does still have the iconic top hat, iron, race car, scottie dog, battle ship and cannon. When I was a kid so many board games required dice that we never kept the dice with the box, since dice were ubiquitous. Which means I have no idea where the original dice are.
The set does come with:
- Original Monopoly Board
- All 16 Chance cards
- All 16 Community Chest cards
- All 4 Railroad cards and both Utility cards
- All 22 Property Deeds
- 11 of the original 12 Hotels, along with a smaller 12th replacement Hotel
- All 32 original Houses, along with a few extras
- Original instructions
As for the famous Monopoly Money, the set comes with:
19 x $500 (One bill missing)
20 x $100
30 x $50
50 x $20 (One bill has a corner torn off)
40 x $10
40 x $5
38 x $1 (Two bills missing)
My mom collected antiques her entire life. She loved going to flea markets and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. Now that she has passed I am selling off her collection.
