While my mom was busy collecting and selling antiques, my dad bought, repaired, and sold old clocks. One type of clock in particular caught his fancy - the Ansonia - which typically features an iron or bronze statue of a figure, often mythic, dressed in ancient garb. (See last photo for an example of an Ansonia clock. Clock NOT for sale!) Dad collected these beautiful metallic figurines for his Ansonia clocks, but in the end he ended up with more figurines than clocks. Dad passed a few years ago, and I am selling off his collection of these Cast Iron Clock Toppers. This particular piece is 8" tall and has been wonderfully and evocatively darkened by time.
Needless to say, you don't need to be a clock afficianado to admire these castings. They would look great on any bookshelf or mantel, as either a bookend or a decorative piece. If you are an artist, perhaps you could incorporate it into a piece of art. I'm sure there are other uses as well. These pieces are hard to find. Don't let this opportunity pass you by.
My mom collected antiques her entire life. She loved going to flea markets and thrift stores in search of hidden treasures. Now that she has passed I am selling off her collection.
