John Rohlfing makes vessels that explore the idea of containers as metaphors. Through these vessels he investigates utility and ritual, while expressing an interest in landscape, organic abstraction, Cubism, and Constructivism.
Rohlfing’s ceramic vessels have been shown both nationally and internationally. His work is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington DC; The Mint Museum of Art, South Carolina; and Racine Art Museum, Wisconsin, among others.
