Framed within ornate, antiqued wooden frame. Dimensions: Approximate dimensions for the artwork not including the frame are 34 inches in width by 24 inches in height. Late 20th to early 21st Century Provenance: The artwork was originally Purchased in 2005 from Native Visions gallery located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Shirley Greene was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1959. The artist attributes her early interest in wildlife to her grandparents who were naturalists. This artist's artworks for the most part are images that she created of the mammals and birds that she observed in her native country; especially the animals and birds that populate the natural areas of Hwange, Mana Pools, Kariba, and the Zambezi Valley. The artist also created a body of work based on wildlife native to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Her original artworks are in several important public and private venues including the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wisconsin and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Ohio. Shirley Greene has participated in many exhibitions, two of which are "Africa to the Everglades" and "Birds in Art". These exhibits were hosted by Call of Africa Gallery, Florida, USA. Shirley Greene is presently located in Midlands, South Africa. Examples by this artist that are similar in composition to this artwork. One in particular is titled "Symphony" and features Great Egrets set in a scene with a background that appears to be a cedar swamp. Great Egrets are found in both the Western and Eastern Hemisphere.The artist states that the scene depicted in the artwork ("Timeless") is a view of Great Egrets at some location in Africa. The artwork is hand-signed in pen by the artist at the lower left-hand corner with a signature that reads "Shirley Greene". The artist has also written the numbers "70/99" along side her signature. These numbers are a reference to the print as being the 70th print pulled in the entire edition of 99 giclee prints in the limited-edition of artworks. At the present time, only a few of Shirley Greene's originals and prints have appeared at auction.
